Maybe This Time
A week-long trip. A fake marriage. And seven delicious nights with only one bed in the hotel room.
He's my business partner, my good friend, and the man I've craved for years.
But I've resisted the sexy Brit, and I plan to keep up my walls because I've been there, done that, and I know how much it hurts when you let someone into your heart.
Then an opportunity comes along for us to snag the business deal of a lifetime.
We need to pretend we're married to pull off this high-stakes deal.
So the clever, charming man with secrets a mile deep becomes my temporary husband, as we travel around Europe. Soon, we fall into bed, tangled together like newlyweds who can't keep their hands off each other.
One week to explore our fantasies, then we return to who we were.
But when I learn the dark secrets he's been keeping, I doubt we can go back.
Because they change everything.
My One-Week Husband is a standalone.
I’m so glad that Daniel and Scarlett ‘s story was told. It was fun to read and it was also touching. This story have so much insight to why Daniel behaved the way he did in One Exquisite Touch which is Cole and Sage’s story. By the way I liked this book better. Taking a chance on love can really conquer one’s fears and that’s exactly what Daniel and Scarlett did. Until next time y’all happy reading.
Trite and vulgar. Characters have absolutely no dimension.
I’ve read almost all of this authors books and have loved each one! They are all amazing and draws the reader in from the very start! This one was no different Scarlett Slade & Daniel Stewart are business partners and they look at a variety of businesses that they can renovate to turn a profit on. They work exceptionally well together and complete each other both bringing their A game on the projects they decide to take on. They decide to play newly married to determine if the latest project they are taking on is actually worth it and if it will attract newlyweds to the establishment. However slowly things go from fake to not so fake between them. Overall definitely a must read! The author sweeps us into the world that is fabulous and loving Daniel and Scarlett.
We are introduced in the very sexy but closed off Daniel and their business partner Scarlett in Cole’s story “One Exquisite Touch”. Daniel, Scarlett, and Cole are partners in the hotel business. Daniel and Scarlett have gotten very close and flirted relentlessly for the past 3 years. A great business opportunity to purchase a group of romantic boutique hotels becomes available. Cole gives the idea that Daniel and Scarlett should visit the boutique hotel’s acting like newlyweds so, they blend in at the properties. Daniel and Scarlett spend an amazingly HOT week pretending and acting like newlyweds. It becomes so real and easy for the two that they open up about their painful pasts they have endured. But, taking a chance and becoming vulnerable is hard to do. Especially for Daniel who is so scared to love and be loved. This was an amazingly sexy, flirty, and heartfelt read. I received an ARC for this book and this is my review.
I adore this book so much. I'm a big fan of friends who have a fake relationship that turns real trope and this is such an amazing one. Lauren Blakely is such a talented author! Daniel and Scarlett are such wonderful lovable characters. They are business partners who pretend to be a honeymooning couple for a week to check out different boutique hotels and what comes out of that is so much more than what either of them expected. Their story is so flirty, sexy, fun, sweet, passionate and emotional, and I loved every single minute of it. The audiobook is an amazing treat with an extended cast for some scenes in the book! But as for the hero and heroine, Shane East is delicious as Daniel and Vanessa Edwin is a fantastic Scarlett. They definitely make you feel what they are feeling and add so much to the written word. They make magic together. Joe Arden is Cole, their third business partner, and Erin Mallon is Nadia, Scarlett's BF, and they are both fantastic in their roles as always. The others were new to me but very good in their roles as well. The epilogues are amazing! What we find out in the first epilogue is just delightful. And the final epilogue just made my heart sing with happiness. The bonus prequel novella starring Erin Mallon as Nadia and Teddy Hamilton as Crosby is awesome and I’m looking forward to The Virgin Rulebook coming in April! So much entertainment in one audiobook! What a treat!!
4.5 stars! My One Week Husband, with all it's steam and undeniable character chemistry, drew me in from the start. I loved this book! This red hot, friends to lovers, fake marriage romance with all the feels both tugged on my heartstrings and made me want to reach for a giant glass of ice water. I've wanted Daniel and Scarlett's story since One Exquisite Touch. As business partners looking for new hotels to acquire, Daniel and Scarlett spent a week traveling hotels pretending to be newlyweds. What started out as playful make believe quickly turned into something passionate and hot - a friendly tryst. Lauren Blakely did a fantastic job combining the flirty sexy side with the more emotionally charged moments. Daniel surprised me with his vulnerability. He lost so much and my heart went out to him. I knew he had secrets that left him broken. When we learned about his past, I, like Scarlett, just wanted to take his pain away. Scarlett with her compassion and understanding was a good match for him. In addition to this wonderful romance, prepare to fall madly in love with the scenery. Whether it was the streets of Paris or Monet's Garden in Giverny, Lauren Blakely paints these mystical place with such detail and beauty. As if I wasn't already desperate to visit France. This book only increased my desires. My One Week Husband had a different feel from a typical Blakely book. There was so much more depth. That's not to say her other books are lacking. I loved this book and I highly recommend.
Wow! Steamy... Sexy.... Daniel and Scarlett’s journey is filled with that and so much more. You definitely will get all the feels in this “fake marriage” storyline. It’s fun, flirty and you’ll burn up with their scorching hot chemistry. Add in an all cast narration and you’ll be hooked from beginning to the end.
This is classic Lauren Blakely & I loved everything about this book! This book had it all...friends to lovers, sexy romance, some mystery & lots of chemistry!
My One Week Husband by Lauren Blakely is a friends to lovers romance that you will absolutely devour. We first met our leading man, Daniel, in One Exquisite Touch and I was ready for his story. I knew one day he’d find that one woman who was a game changer. Scarlett is a business partner with him and Cole. To help in the search for a new boutique hotel chain, they pretend to be newlyweds so they can really experience what these hotels have to offer. Lines are blurred when they both have true feelings. The past is painful for them both and has left them having a hard time with love. Daniels past was heartbreaking and Scarlett is just what he needs. This book was a sweet, sexy, and fun read that will ultimately put a smile on your face.
My One Week Husband was an enjoyable, flirty, charming read. Daniel and Scarlett are business partners and friends. While exploring a potential business opportunity, they decided to pretend to be newlyweds. And that is where the fun begins. Daniel and Scarlett had intense chemistry. Their flirty banter and their strong friendship really set up the progression of their relationship. I liked how they opened up to each other and got to know more on a personal level. I enjoyed seeing their relationship progress from friendship to more. They were perfect for each other and it was endearing seeing their true feelings surfaced. It was sweet and affectionate. I also loved how descriptive Lauren got where Daniel and Scarlett were visiting in France. It felt like I was there. It was great to see old faces pop up and I'm intrigued with some new ones as well. Overall this was a wonderful heartfelt story.
How can I tell you how much I loved this Book?? I’m a huge Lauren Blakely fan anyway, but this one just punched all the buttons - witty dialogue, great characters, hotter than hot sex, and 2 broken people finding a way to put all the pieces back together again - with each other. Business Partners turned lovers Scarlett & Daniel will break your heart and then mend it on they way to their much deserved happily ever after. Thank You, Lauren for a great story!
Oh my word, this story is FIRE! Lauren Blakely set my world ablaze with Daniel and Scarlett's love story! Set in France, Blakely swept me away to the most luxurious places and made me fall in love repeatedly. It'll make you laugh and it'll tug at your heartstrings. Blakely writes the perfect story for these two business partners turned lovers. Everything about this story is pure perfection! Scarlett is a strong, independent, sexy woman who knows what she wants and goes after it. She has some serious balls on her and I love how she's not afraid to step out of her comfort zone. Daniel and his delicious Brittish accent made me swoon. He's all sorts of yummy! He oozes sex appeal and if I were Scarlett, I would've been quick to drop my panties too! Together, Daniel and Scarlett are incendiary. I'm talking five-alarm H-O-T!! With emotional scars and secrets from their pasts, these two have to work through some serious issues in order to find their HEA but they do just that and come out on the other side. This is the perfect 5-star read!
Get your passports ready because Lauren Blakely is taking us to France! My One Week Husband is everything you want in a romance novel. It's filled with flirty banter, sexual chemistry, and a beautifully written storyline that will take you from Paris to Monet's Garden, to small towns such as Nice, Marseille, and Lyon. Although this is a total standalone, we first met Daniel Stewart in One Exquisite Touch, where he and Cole are not shy pleasing the ladies. Cole finds love with Sage, who owns a lavish hotel, and the two are deliriously happy. Cole wants the same for his college friend now business partner, and works his shenanigans to make it happen. Three years ago Daniel and Cole met and joined forces with Scarlett Slade, a successful financial advisor with experience in real estate and hospitality. She not only possesses beauty, but brains, class, and a passion for Paris. The three now invest and operate exclusive hotels and are looking to expand their portfolio. What I love so much about this book is the vivid way the author describes every detail. From the majestic places they visit, to the emotional torment he feels when thinking about music, to the way they feel when they look at or think about one another. His heart just doesn't flutter, Blakely writes, "it feels as though a thousand hummingbirds flap their wings in my chest." Sadly, I have never been to France, but I certainly intend on visiting the places described in this book after exploring them through the author's eyes. I loved Wanderlust, also set in France, but My One Week Husband is on an entirely different level and consumed my heart and soul. It is without a doubt, the best book Blakely has ever written. The premise of the book takes Daniel, a violin prodigy and entrepeuner, and Scarlet on a one-week undercover mission to explore several boutique hotels for sale throughout France. Not wanting the employees to know their intent, they pose as husband and wife while they investigate this financial opportunity. It is through this journey that they act on their insane chemistry and admit they've been attracted to each other from the start. And my oh my how they role play, especially when Scarlett lets Daniel in on a few of her secret steamy fantasies! I absolutely loved all of their flirty banter and innuendos, their sensual touches, and how they slowly let down their guard confessing their heartbreaking backstories to one another. They both suffered from a tragic past, but helped each other heal. The storyline is so unexpected and unique, and nothing like I've read before. This was no slow burn! Even though they knew the risks of being friends and business partners who became intimate, the got to the good stuff pretty quickly! But their coupling resonates with your soul because they were similar in so many ways. They both loved culture, good food, and exploring beautiful places. They appreciated nature and art, had the same business goals and work ethic, and had a mural respect and personal interest in each other. I loved how honest and open they were, their maturity, and their direct communication when expressing their feelings. There was tension when they returned from their week-long, mutually agreed upon, sexy romp and role-playing business filled with pleasure adventure, and you will just have to read this steamy tale for yourself to see how Daniel and Scarlett finally get their own HEA...and it will fill your heart with glee. My One Week Husband is delightful, decadent, and deliciously dirty. It made me swoon, laugh, and cry, and is a book I will be reading again and again. I can't wait for the audio, especially to hear Daniel's sexy English accent. I also can't wait to read how Scarlett's friend Nadia gets her chance at love with her brother's best friend, an all-star baseball player in The Virgin Rule Book up next.
