The Assassin and the Empire
Sarah J. Maas
The seductive and stunning #1 New York Times bestselling sequel to Sarah J. Maas's spellbinding A Court of Thorns and Roses.
Feyre has undergone more trials than one human woman can carry in her heart. Though she's now been granted the powers and lifespan of the High Fae, she is haunted by her time Under the Mountain and the terrible deeds she performed to save the lives of Tamlin and his people.
As her marriage to Tamlin approaches, Feyre's hollowness and nightmares consume her. She finds herself split into two different people: one who upholds her bargain with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court, and one who lives out her life in the Spring Court with Tamlin. While Feyre navigates a dark web of politics, passion, and dazzling power, a greater evil looms. She might just be the key to stopping it, but only if she can harness her harrowing gifts, heal her fractured soul, and decide how she wishes to shape her future-and the future of a world in turmoil.
Bestselling author Sarah J. Maas's masterful storytelling brings this second book in her dazzling, sexy, action-packed series to new heights.
Perfect in every way
The second book in this series was an absolute page-turning beauty! To see Feyre go from so strong in book 1 to completely losing herself in book two then somehow regaining herself again. So beautiful, such amazing character development. This is already becoming one of my favorite series that I’ve ever read.
Such an amazing book! By far better than the first.
I love this book. Her writing is beautiful.
An enjoyable and dramatic read, filled with emotion and sex and magic. Not the best literature in terms of profound or skilled writing, but a fun read.
The plot, the characters, and the descriptive language made such vivid and beautiful imaginations. I cherish this so much that I am sad that I read this book so quickly. Read this if you want to get emotionally wrecked btw.
Way too long. Only a few really page turning moments. Main character, Feyra, is really annoying. Writing style is boring, tells doesn’t show.
OH MY GOD. THEY MADE ME BELIEVE IN TRUE LOVE.
Even better than book two. The characters are more relatable, more action, more passion. 10/10.
This book is AMAZING. That ending though.
Nothing else like it . Who knew one book could make you have SO MANY EMOTIONS. I am not ready for this book hangover, miss Mass you almost ended me with this one not gonna lie
this book is so good! i’ve read and reread it countless times and feyre is just spectacular! high lady for life!
I think this is the best book out of the series. The characters are wonderful, the plot is interesting and doesn’t drag, and the writing is beautiful. I’ve read it so many times and I absolutely love Rhys and Feyra. Even if you aren’t a fan of the first book, I highly recommend this one.
I was skeptical about starting the first book, but I’m glad I read it! The second book won my heart! I read it in two days and couldn’t put it down! I love all the characters and the relationship that blooms! It will always be my favorite. Ready for the next book to be released next year!
So good. I bought the whole set after reading the throne of glass and it did even better can’t wait for the 5th one
This book is unbelievable. I could not put it down. Chapter 55 is no joke ladies. Definitely worth the read. Rhysand is my absolute favorite character and feyre’s development throughout the book is beyond what I could’ve hoped for. Can’t wait to read the rest!
This was my favorite in the series and definitely didn’t disappoint! I reread this book more than I did the first one
I am absolutely in love with this series and all of it’s characters. I’m so excited to see what happens next!!!
This book was amazing compared to the first, it didn’t drag, there was a clear plot and the characters are written so well. Take a chance on it. By the way, this book is much cheaper elsewhere on the net if you get my drift…..
In this sequel, you find yourself drawing your own opinion about characters and rooting for or against them. While some of the characters are one dimensional and petty, there are plenty more that I can remember fondly. While no character alone is an absolute favorite, together they really make an amazing story. The romance in the book is a really nice slow-burn, and if you’re looks for that this is as good as it gets. That is probably the strongest aspect of the book, but you can still enjoy if even if you aren’t a romance fan. If you enjoyed book 1 even a little bit you should definitely read this. If you felt it was lacking, I would still consider this book. You learn more about Rhysand and Lucien, two of my favorite characters, and Feyre really delves into what she wants for herself. In my opinion, this is the best book in the series.
Not one second of this book disappointed me! Full of witty banter and sexy Innuendos! I have read this book a 100 times and still can’t get enough
Okay wow. I love this series. At first I was a little on the fence about reading the series because of the Goodreads reviews, but I’m glad I decided to go for it. The first book is really good, setting up the story and following the journey of Feyre and Tamlin, the relationship kind of mirroring that of Beauty and the Beast. But no, it’s more than that. Feyre broke the curse around Tamlin, but by doing that she just released the inner beast of who he really is. And now in this book she makes him pay for it. This book and the third are my favorite, but this book is a little closer to my heart for the relationship she builds that ends up saving her from herself. SJM did a good job at balancing the story with action, humor, and love. Oh the love.
